don't forget to declare the TAE TCL variable, proper type. The routine will perform conversion of type per user request in vtype. All floating values are double precision. Failure to find or convert the label value places -999 in val, converted to the proper type (-999,-999.0,"-999").
The types 2 and 7 are provided for convenience, TAE TCL has only the three types string, integer, and double.
